Jon Jones’ plea hearing set up for hit-and-run case

Former UFC light-heavyweight champion Jon Jones is scheduled to go in front of a judge in the coming weeks.

Several weeks ago, revealed that former UFC champ Jon Jones' legal team was positioning themselves for a plea bargain. Now it appears that the plea hearing is officially scheduled to take place in Albuquerque's Second Judicial District Court on Sept. 29.

The 28-year-old Jones is facing a felony charge for fleeing the scene of an accident that involved bodily harm back in April.

The former UFC light-heavyweight champion allegedly ran a red light in a rented car and struck a pregnant lady moments afterwards, which caused her to break her arm. Jones allegedly fled the scene of the accident but not before returning to stuff his pockets with cash. A marijuana pipe was also found in the rented car along with his documentation that confirmed his identity.

Jones turned himself into the police back and was arrested for the hit-and-run charges. He posted bail that same day.

The UFC chose to suspended Jones and strip him of his title the day after his arrest, which was also a few weeks before UFC 187. Jones' manager, Malki Kawa, even suggested that Jones might retire in the immediate aftermath of the accident. However, that no longer appears to be the case.
