Bellator lightweight champion Will Brooks is no stranger to speaking his mind on Twitter, and last night was no exception. During Bellator's Dynamite event, Brooks took to social media to discuss his dissatisfaction with what happened after the main event of the show. It then turned into a much bigger rant, slamming the promotion for what he perceives as a lack of respect for the guys that have been around the promotion before a recent influx of UFC talent.
First, he stuck up for Bellator light heavyweight champion Liam McGeary after his post-fight interview was hijacked by former UFC fighters Tito Ortiz and Phil Davis:
Damn that really pisses me off that Tito needs the spotlight so much that he took over Liam's interview. That's bs
— Will Brooks (@illwillbrooks86) September 20, 2015
Liam is the Champion and didn't get his chance to say his piece. Tito steals his thunder and they they let Phil come in and throw shade.
— Will Brooks (@illwillbrooks86) September 20, 2015
I know someone's gonna have some hurt feelings but Liam didn't get the respect a champ deserves and it's not right
— Will Brooks (@illwillbrooks86) September 20, 2015
When Phil won he got all this extra time to talk but Liam just won and got the Tito experience and they Phil get more air time.

He then stated that it wasn't Jimmy Smith's fault, but the champ deserves more respect. McGeary's easygoing personality was brought up, and Brooks was blunt about defending McGeary if he won't defend himself:
That's fine. I'll give a fuck for him https://t.co/VLrQRzAzyb

Then he got started on Bellator's promotion:
Oh and before someone text my phone or calls my manager to ask for me to calm down. The answer is no.
— Will Brooks (@illwillbrooks86) September 20, 2015
I've watched these new guys come over and get the royal treatment. While me and the other champions get the should shrug treatment.
— Will Brooks (@illwillbrooks86) September 20, 2015
I respect the changes Bellator has been making things are a lot better then before but there's more work to be done
— Will Brooks (@illwillbrooks86) September 20, 2015
There needs to be more respect shown by the organization and the fans to me and the other fighters that were here before these new cats.
— Will Brooks (@illwillbrooks86) September 20, 2015
We work our ass off for this organization and I feel like the new guys get more respect than me and the other guys that have been here
— Will Brooks (@illwillbrooks86) September 20, 2015
We deserve better and I know Coker and Bellator can do better for the fighters.
— Will Brooks (@illwillbrooks86) September 20, 2015
No one has to like my attitude or my approach to things but I can tell you this much. I stand strong on better fighter treatment
— Will Brooks (@illwillbrooks86) September 20, 2015
I said it before I'll put myself in the line of fire and take the shots but things will get better for us that have been here grinding
— Will Brooks (@illwillbrooks86) September 20, 2015
He did try to wrap it up with some humor at least:
I'll probably be ranting for another hour or so. I ate ice cream earlier and I'm lactose intolerant so its going to be a long night for me
— Will Brooks (@illwillbrooks86) September 20, 2015
My manager is going to be so annoyed with me when he sees my tweets
— Will Brooks (@illwillbrooks86) September 20, 2015
He then added another amusing one this morning:
Hahaha woke up to a few questions and warnings from fans. Someone said I should watch myself before I get the Eddie Alvarez treatment lol
— Will Brooks (@illwillbrooks86) September 20, 2015
Brooks returns to the cage to defend his title against Marcin Held at Bellator 145 on November 6th.
