This Saturday night, the UFC presents one of the top pound for pound fighters in the world defending his title. UFC 191: Johnson vs. Dodson 2 features a Flyweight title fight, plus a Heavyweight contender fight straight out of 2005. Join Bloody Elbow for live fight night coverage of UFC 191 Saturday night starting at 7:00 p.m. ET with the Fight Pass prelims.
With fight night fast approaching, here's a quick look at the UFC 191 odds, via BestFightOdds.com. Here, we'll give you the closest odds, but you can get the full range at BestFightOdds.
In the main event, UFC Flyweight champion Demetrious Johnson rematches John Dodson for the belt. Johnson will be making his incredible 7th defense of the belt (defense #1 came against Dodson himself) and he's currently #3 on the Pound for Pound list, so it's no surprise that he is the considerable favorite. Johnson right now is at -470, Dodson at +444.
As always, your quick odds primer - that means Johnson is the favorite (with the negative number) and you need to bet $470 on him to win $100 (plus your $470 back). For Dodson, the underdog, a $100 bet nets you $444 (again, with your original $100 back).
The other big fight on the card is the battle of former UFC Heavyweight champions as Andrei Arlovski takes on Frank Mir. This fight is almost dead even, with Arlovski as the very slight favorite at -150, Mir at +140.
Also on the main card, Anthony Johnson is the big favorite over Jimi Manuwa -500 to +525, and Jan Blachowicz holds the slight edge over Corey Anderson -140 to +133.
The widest, and by far most notable odds on the night belong to the main card opener, where the 5-2 Alex Chambers takes on the 5-1 Paige Van Zant. This is a pretty even fight on paper, but you would not know it from the odds, as Van Zant is the favorite at a staggering -1375 to +1025 for Chambers. Again, that means a $100 bet on Chambers could bring you $1,025. Crazy.
Interestingly, the prelims are one of the closest overall collections of fights I have seen, with virtually all fights in the 100-200 range. Widest spread on the prelims is Paul Felder over Ross Pearson -360 to +363; closest is John Lineker over Francisco Rivera -115 to +104. In the words of Mike Goldberg, everything else is virtually... identical.
