One of the most popular strawweights in the UFC has got a new contract. Paige VanZant, who has won all three of her bouts in the promotion and was featured on the main card of the last pay-per-view, wanted to get a new deal done before booking her next fight.
Ariel Helwani talked about it on last night's edition of UFC Tonight:
"Her manager, Mike Roberts, says they want to get a new contract before her next fight. Randa Markos has been very vocal and wants to fight her. She’s pissed that Paige has passed her up in the rankings."
They also stated that VanZant would like to get back into the cage in December or January.
Well lo and behold, VanZant got her new deal and a fight lined up (although she didn't say against whom).
Just signed a new @ufc deal and got my next fight lined up ;) pic.twitter.com/EaT8NRpbEx

VanZant (6-1, 3-0 UFC) picked up a submission win over Alex Chambers at UFC 191. The 21-year-old already has an individual Reebok deal and is currently ranked as the number 6 contender in the strawweight division. We'll see whether or not Canada's Markos will be her next opponent.
