UFC women's bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey may be the featured attraction at the upcoming UFC 193 show in Melbourne, but there was one question on the minds of many who attended the pre-event presser: "Is Fedor Emelianenko going to be on the fight card?"
White, perched at the center of the stage, was keen to bring an end to the rumors: "He'd be here."
Back in July, BloodyElbow.com confirmed that the legendary Russian heavyweight was prepared to put an end to his retirement and return to professional competition. BloodyElbow later revealed that Fedor had been in negotiations with the UFC and Bellator in North America, the former of which offered a more lucrative deal.
This was followed by a report from CombatPress.com that stated that Fedor had officially signed with the UFC. The ‘Last Emperor' later spoke out during a guest appearance and revealed that he was yet to finalize a deal with any promotion.
Now it appears as though that was the case, as White explained that he had little to offer in terms of insight into the negotiations.
"There is nothing to tell you. If there was, I'd tell you," White said (h/t Sherdog). "The Fedor thing has been a mystery for a very long time. We've obviously talked to them. I don't know what they're doing right now or what their plans are."
Emelianenko also stated that he would announce his signing this week. He is scheduled to appear at Bellator MMA's Fan Fest.
