Shogun is as 'good as new' after surgery, plans comeback in early 2016

After successful shoulder surgery, Mauricio Rua wants to return next year.

Former UFC and Pride champion Mauricio Rua underwent surgery on his right shoulder last Sunday. He then posted a photo of him and his doctor on his Instagram account and hinted at a return early next year.

"Guys, a lot of people have been sending messages and asking for news", Shogun posted wrote. "This past Sunday I had surgery on my right shoulder, with my Orthopedist Dr. Daniel Delaquilla in Sao Paulo. All went fine, and today I did my 'post-surgery' appointment and we continue firm on the recovery to be back stronger, 'good as new' early next year!"

Shogun was last seen in action at UFC 190, where he edged Antonio Rogerio Nogueira in what has been a very close fight. In the post-fight press conference, he suggested a rematch with Quinton Jackson, who he defeated via soccer-kick KO in the opening round of Pride FC's 2005 Middleweight Grand Prix.
