Alexander Gustafsson fires back at Daniel Cormier after sarcastic remarks

After some verbal shots by the champion, the Swedish challenger now responds in equally sarcastic fashion.

At the Go Big press conference last Friday, UFC light-heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier has made some sarcastic remarks about the quality of his first challenger, Swedish superstar Alexander Gustafsson. Not only did DC question Gustafsson's résumé and blamed him for priding himself only on his close fight with former champ Jon Jones, he also wished for Jones to come back, so he can finally "stop playing around" with other fighters.

Gustafsson now reacted to that statement via his Facebook:

"DC is a very loving and humble person and he says what he truly believes. This will be a test for me, to meet the Champion in LHW division, the rightful Champion without question and one of the best pound for pound fighters in the world??!??!," Gustafsson wrote in a similarly sarcastic tone.

Cormier lost his title fight against Jones at UFC 183 in January and only received another shot at the gold, due to the fact that Jones got stripped of the belt. Jon Jones ist still considered by many to be the "real" champion at 205 pounds.

"With all of this said and no matter what DC thinks or believes, I will take that belt on October 3rd and once I have that belt, I hope you all stop talking how close I was getting it from Jon Jones and instead talk about my Earth-shattering win over Daniel Cormier for as long as you guys want,"
