Teixeira: 'If I can't beat Cummins, why should I bother hunting down Cormier?'

Glover Teixeira sees Patrick Cummins as a good opponent for his second UFC title run. Believes it's a needed challenge if he wants to stand a chance against Daniel Cormier.

Glover Teixeira has his eyes on Patrick Cummins, whom he will be facing in November. However, that does not mean the Brazilian is not thinking about a second title run after a rather impressive performance over Ovince Saint Preux earlier this month.

But as Teixeira told Portal do Vale Tudo, it would be pointless to think about taking on current light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier if he can't handle his task at hand in Cummins.

"I don't care about which opponent I get. It's just another day at work, for me. Cummins is learning and improving every fight. He's a great wrestler, I'll have to work very hard. He's tough, but I'm at the top of the division and I have to beat those guys, if I can't beat him, why should I bother hunting down Cormier? That's the truth."

Glover Teixeira is expected to take on Patrick Cummins on November 7, in Sao Paulo, on the co-main event of UFC Fight Night 77, which will be headlined by the rubber match between Vitor Belfort and Dan Henderson.
