An offhand comment by Luke Rockhold managed to ignite a Twitter beef between Chris Weidman and Michael Bisping. Rockhold, who will meet Weidman in the co-main event of UFC 194, was responding to Weidman's comments about him being immature when he said that the champ "kicks like Michael Bisping". That was far from the only barb he aimed in Weidman's direction in the interview, but that was the one that elicited a response on Twitter:
Wow This guy just made it real personal comparing me to Bisping. Reality is coming for you.
— Chris Weidman (@ChrisWeidmanUFC) August 19, 2015
It should come as no surprise that Bisping had a quick response to that:
@ChrisWeidmanUFC @MMAFighting all cocky now. Fake champion, beating has beens. Let's see if they can bring back shamrock for your next fight

And then it was on.
Haha @bisping I'm fighting for the title for the 5th time. How many times have u fought for the title in your decorated career ?
— Chris Weidman (@ChrisWeidmanUFC) August 19, 2015
@bisping I'm your biggest fan. I only want the best for you. Chill out buddy.
— Chris Weidman (@ChrisWeidmanUFC) August 19, 2015
@ChrisWeidmanUFC and well done to you. Really! But don't think you can talk shit about me and not get a response. Belt or no belt!

Right after this, Bisping's bout with Robert Whittaker at UFC 193 in Australia was announced and the two men let up. For the time being, anyway.
