Bellator's next major event to host Pitbull/Straus 3, Brooks/Held

Bellator 145, the promotion's next "tent pole" event in November will feature two title fights on top.

Bellator CEO Scott Coker stated when he took over the promotion that the calendar would see a few "tent-pole" events to go along with their other shows. The last one of these was the infamous Kimbo Slice vs. Ken Shamrock bout in May. This time, they're going in a different direction for the headliners.

The next big show, Bellator 145, will take place on November 6th in St. Louis and will feature two title fights on top. Patricio Freire will defend his featherweight title against Daniel Straus in their their third matchup, while Will Brooks will defend his lightweight title against Marcin Held. Both Pitbull and Straus last competed at Bellator 138, where they picked up wins in separate bouts. Brooks and Held both last fought and won at Bellator 136 to set this fight up.

Pitbull won the previous two matchups against Straus, most recently submitting him in January.

It is expected that Michael Chandler and Bobby Lashley will also compete on the November card, but they don't have opponents as of yet. The next Bellator event is their Dynamite show that will feature both MMA and kickboxing. That goes down on September 19th.
