The UFC is heading back to Houston for a pay-per-view event on October 3rd, headlined by a light heavyweight title fight between new champion Daniel Cormier and challenger Alexander Gustafsson. There is some question as to why Gustafsson is getting a title shot off a loss to Anthony Johnson, with some thinking that Ryan Bader should've been granted that shot. Instead, Bader faces Rashad Evans on the same card, and the winner of that (especially Bader) should be in prime position for the next title shot.
In the co-main, welterweight contender and former champion Johny Hendricks takes on Tyron Woodley in a fight that likely determines who faces the winner of Robbie Lawler vs. Carlos Condit, which is one month later. A couple of interesting fights have been booked over the past couple of weeks, most notably Julianna Pena against Jessica Eye, and Alan Jouban vs. Albert Tumenov, which should be stupidly fun.
There are still a few fights left to round out this event, but here's what we have so far with less than two months to go before showtime:
Daniel Cormier vs. Alexander Gustafsson
Johny Hendricks vs. Tyron Woodley
Ryan Bader vs. Rashad Evans
Shawn Jordan vs. Ruslan Magomedov
Alan Jouban vs. Albert Tumenov
Jessica Eye vs. Julianna Pena
Daniel Hooker vs. Yair Rodriguez
Chris Cariaso vs. Sergio Pettis
Anthony Hamilton vs. Derrick Lewis
