Two Brazilian bantamweights will meet again for the Bellator world title as the promotion announced that current champion Marcos Galvao will defend his belt for the first time against his former Nova Uniao teammate, Eduardo Dantas, at Bellator 144. The event is set to take place in Uncasville, Connecticut on October 23.
Interestingly, the last time Dantas and Galvao met back in 2013, Dantas was the champion and Galvao the challenger. At the time, Eduardo defended his title by knockout in the second round.
That was the last loss in Galvao's career, who now lives in New York and has put together four victories in a row, including a submission against Joe Warren to snatch the belt back in March. Dantas lost his title to the same Warren last year, by unanimous decision. He bounced back with a decision win over Mike Richman in May to warrant the new title shot.
Apart from the main event, no other fights have been announced for the card yet.
