Ranked the No. 1 strawweight in the UFC behind champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk, Claudia Gadelha is excited to be on the main card of a PPV card after having her first two Octagon appearances on preliminary cards.
Gadelha informed Combate that she was outraged to find herself on the prelims even she had her UFC debut.
"I fought in the prelims twice and I thought it was ridiculous. This time, there was no way. I understand my fight being the first one, though, because there are only legends of the sport ahead of me. Female MMA is growing stronger in the whole world and especially in Brazil, Ronda is opening doors for all of us and that is really good."
As for her opponent, Jessica Aguilar, Claudia recognizes her grappling prowess, but doesn't believe it'll pose much of a threat when the fight hits the ground.
"I believe I'm better than her at everything. I fought her twice before in grappling tournaments, which is her best asset. She is not better than me. I took her down several times when we fought. She stalls too much, she just likes to be on top or against the cage killing time. I don't believe she can take me down or knock me out."
As Claudia said, her fight will open UFC 190's main card, which goes down on August 1 in Rio de Janeiro and will be headlined by the female bantamweight title fight between Ronda Rousey and Bethe Correia.
