The usually soft-spoken Frankie Edgar exploded on Twitter on Wednesday when he fielded questions from fans. Throughout his UFC tenure, Edgar has earned the respect of fans' with his hardworking, humble approach to mixed martial arts - letting his performances inside the Octagon do the talking.

After witnessing the promotional success of Conor McGregor over the last two years, it appears that Frankie Edgar may have taken a page out of the Irishman's book. 'The Answer' pulled back no punches on Wednesday when he vowed to 'slaughter' McGregor after the UFC 'milk the cow' dry.

Frankie Edgar was seen briefly exchanging words with McGregor after his stunning triumph over Chad Mendes at UFC 189. 'The Notorious' was originally scheduled to challenge Jose Aldo for the featherweight title on July 11 but the reigning champ pulled out at the last minute citing a rib injury. In an emotional post-fight interview, McGregor accused Jose of 'running' from the fight and expressed interest in defending the interim title against Frankie Edgar in a backstage interview.

While both men seem eager to lock horns, Conor McGregor is set to coach the upcoming Team Europe vs. Team USA Ultimate Fighter series opposite Team Alpha Male leader, Urijah Faber. The new series airs on September 9th and it's expected that Conor McGregor's championship showdown with Jose Aldo will be rescheduled after the Brazilian rehabilitates his rib.
