The unexpected return of heavyweight legend Fedor Emelianenko has had the MMA community buzzing with excitement. Fans and pundits expressed their interest in the former PRIDE champion's return, while fighters like Frank Mir and Andrei Arlovski have come out and openly challenged Fedor, or even offered to help him train for his comeback.
Dagestani standout Khabib Nurmagomedov also offered his thoughts on the return of the ‘Last Emperor,' whom he is exited to see fight again, but only if it is for the UFC.
"I grew up watching Fedor and would very much like him to come back," Khabib said on his official VK account. "However, I don't want him in Bellator, but in the UFC. All the men whom he lost to serve in that organization."
For Khabib, Fedor's potential arrival in the UFC is the most logical of all the heavyweight's options. By fighting for the top international promotion, Fedor will have the opportunity to avenge losses to the likes of Antonio Silva, Dan Henderson and reigning champion Fabricio Werdum.
"For starters, you can arrange a rematch with Bigfoot - it's a good fight for the return. Then it would be interesting to put Fedor in the main event of the UFC's first trip to Russia with Dan Henderson. And then the fight for the title with Werdum if he will still be champion. Those who are closely watching MMA understand that all this is real."
However, Khabib also warned Fedor that much has changed in the MMA landscape since he was last relevant.
"I hope Fedor understands that mixed martial arts has changed a lot. In any case, I wish him good health and good luck."
