Conor McGregor is brash, charismatic and he speaks his mind, and this is why he has been likened to Chael Sonnen numerous times from both fighters and analysts alike. At one point, it seemed like McGregor took a page out of Sonnen's playbook while trying to get a fight booked, but recently the Irishman has distanced himself from the common comparison.

Sonnen spoke about McGregor's title bout against Aldo, and interestingly enough, Chael says that while he likes the way Conor promotes himself, he believes Aldo runs through him.

"I've never truly been on the McGregor bandwagon," Sonnen said during an appearance at the Anik and Florian podcast. "I love the entertainment value, but I don't necessarily buy into the skill set."

"Kenny Florian, after McGregor had one fight in the UFC -- it was an undercard fight -- he pulls me aside and says 'hey did you see the McGregor guy? I'm telling you this guy can beat Aldo. This guy has angles. This guy throws punches from weird directions'," he shared. "And Kenny had fought Aldo so it really meant a lot to me."

"Now here we are (close) to fight time, and I'm still not seeing what Kenny is seeing. I don't know fighting as much as Kenny or Dominick (Cruz) do, but I'm thinking 'man, Aldo is going to run through this guy'. The only reason I'm interested in this fight is because of the conversation I had two years ago with Florian!"

According to the former two-division title challenger, he doesn't believe McGregor would win against the rest of the top featherweights either.

"When I look at the murderer's row in the division, I think Frankie Edgar, Chad Mendes, and Jose Aldo. I just don't think Conor McGregor can crack into that."

"I just want to go on the record and say that I don't think it's a close fight, and I think Aldo runs through him. That's not a knock on Conor, I just have that much respect for Aldo."
