Tim Kennedy to the UFC: Thanks, but I'll pass on $2500 'generous offer'

New, comments

In the aftermath of the Reebok numbers bomb that was dropped yesterday, UFC middleweight Tim Kennedy releases a very telling pair of tweets that reveal exactly what he thinks of the deal.

Eric Bolte-USA TODAY Sports

Today a bomb was dropped into the laps of the UFC fighter roster. After several months of playing the waiting game, with not a single kernel of information to even formulate an opinion, the Reebok Deal numbers were made public, and not surprisingly, they left quite a few fighters unhappy. Among those unhappy fighters, is Number 8 ranked middleweight, Tim Kennedy.

Kennedy has never been one to mince words, and has been quite vocal about fighter pay issues in the past, even going so far as to suggest he'd make more money emptying trash cans for a living. With today's announcement, he took to Twitter and put out a pair of tweets that left no question as to where his thoughts are on the situation:

Dear @ufc

Am I to understand that for my exclusive apparel sponsorship I'll make $2,500?
I'll pass. Thanks for the generous offer.

@ScottCoker Hey Scott, miss your face.

With so many fighters voicing their concerns (and ire) regarding this deal, it's pretty much a foregone conclusion the UFC will be having to "make it right" with more than just Myles Jury. As always, Bloody Elbow will keep our readers updated on this developing story as more information becomes available.
