Whether the fight itself was a success as an entertainment product may be up for debate. Whether it was a financial and business success is not. For those wondering if fans were going to be driven away by a high price point, an overly long buildup, or by crummy service from cable providers and a lack of online PPV options, the answer is no all around. Kevin Iole of Yahoo Sports reports that the Floyd Mayweather vs. Manny Pacquiao "Fight of the Century" PPV is set to go well over 4 million buys, shattering the previous record of 2.48.

The previous record was set by Floyd Mayweather as well, when he defeated Oscar De La Hoya back in 2007. Once the stomping ground of boxing's heavyweight champions, Mayweather has become the most dominant figure in the history of boxing's PPV landscape. Of course, that just leaves one big question, who's going to be the next fighter to even come close to replicating Mayweather's success?
