DISH Network renews UFC pay-per-view distribution deal, will air UFC 187 this weekend

New, comment

Good news for MMA fans who are DISH Network subscribers, as the satellite TV company has settled its differences with the UFC and will broadcast Saturday's UFC 187 after all.

Last month, DISH Network customers were unable to order UFC 186 due to "contractual issues", and the ongoing negotiations meant there was no determining when UFC pay-per-views would be carried on DISH again. However, news has come in today that confirms there is a happy ending to this story for UFC fans, who will now be able to watch UFC 187 tomorrow night. Here's the official statement released by the UFC today:

"UFC is pleased to announce the renewal of a multi-year partnership with DISH Network L.L.C. to continue providing all of the biggest and most anticipated UFC Pay-Per-View (PPV) events of the year to DISH's approximately 14 million customers. The agreement will provide UFC fans the opportunity to tune in, this Saturday, May 23 for an epic night of fights, featuring two championship bouts on UFC 187: JOHNSON vs. CORMIER at 10 p.m. ET/7 p.m. PT"

No financial details are known but the common fan who just wants to order Saturday's card probably doesn't give a damn. DISH is no stranger to contract disputes, having already dropped WWE pay-per-views from their offerings after the pro wrestling organization made their PPVs available on the WWE Network last year. They also were recently embattled in a carriage dispute with Fox News before agreeing to a deal in January. At least this UFC-DISH standoff was resolved in time for the next PPV.
