Eddie Wineland will get the chance to fight not far from home at UFC on Fox 16 in Chicago. Wineland, who resides in Indiana, will take on Bryan Caraway on the July 25th show. The bout was confirmed by the UFC earlier today.
Wineland (21-10-1, 3-4 UFC), a former WEC bantamweight champion, hasn't competed since a shocking knockout loss to Johnny Eduardo last May. He has challenged for a UFC belt before, getting bested by Renan Barao back in 2013.
Caraway (19-7, 5-2 UFC) had a two-fight winning streak stopped at the hands of top contender Raphael Assuncao last October in Halifax. Caraway is perhaps best known for being the boyfriend of women's bantamweight contender Miesha Tate, who is also fighting on the card against Jessica Eye.
It's likely that the bout will take place on the undercard of the event, which goes down in the United Center. The main event of the show also takes place in the bantamweight division, with T.J. Dillashaw defending his title against Barao in a rematch of their UFC 173 bout.
