Top Polish promotion KSW will return for their second event in 2015 on Saturday afternoon in Gdansk. Atop the card sits a middleweight title fight between champion Michal Materal and former UFC fighter Tomasz Drwal, while a heavyweight showdown between five-time World's Strongest Man Mariusz Pudzianowski and Rolles Gracie will take the co-main event slot. Other entertaining fights will be on display in Gdansk, as light-heavyweights Goran Reljic and former Bellator champion Attila Vegh will meet to determine a new light-heavyweight champion.
Two-time ‘Fight of the Year' winner and KSW middleweight champion Michal Materla will prepare to make the fifth defence of his title on Saturday night when he faces arguably his toughest test to date in UFC veteran Tomasz Drwal. Materla is on a two-fight win streak following his KO loss to former champ Jay Silva back in 2013, while Drwal has compiled a four-fight win streak since parting ways with the UFC in 2010. Both fighters holds similar records and average just one fight per year. Given the similarities in experience, Materla's edge will likely come in the grappling department, where he could apply takedowns to help steal rounds on the scorecards.
The co-main event of the evening will feature a contest that will likely steal away some of the spotlight from the title fight headliner, as heavyweights Mariusz Pudzianowski and Rolles Gracie meet on the KSW 31 card. After suffering three losses during the first four years as a professional fighter, the former five-time World's Strongest Man has compiled a three-fight win streak that includes victories over the likes of former UFC fighters Sean McKorkle and Oli Thompson, as well as Pawel Nastula in his most recent outing last December. Given his overall improvements over the past couple of years, it is quite possible for Pudzianowski to extend his win streak to four. Gracie, also 8-3 professionally, lost his two most recent fights via stoppage and has not won a fight since 2012, which does not bode well for his chances on Saturday.
