This weekend is a huge UFC event, but you can get your combat sports fix started early with Muay Thai action on Friday night. Lion Fight 22 airs this Friday, May 22 at 10:00 p.m. ET live on AXS TV.
The latest from Lion Fight Promotions, Lion Fight 22 features full rules Muay Thai - a style and ruleset slightly different from Glory style kickboxing. Traditional Muay Thai rules means 5 round fights instead of 3, plus a wider range of allowed techniques including elbows, knees from the clinch, and throws.
In the main event at Lion Fight 22, Jo Nattawut faces Salah Khalifa. This was originally scheduled to be Nattawut taking on the excellent Thai fighter Kem Sitsongpeenong, but unfortunately, Kem is out and Khalifa is in. The result should still be a fun fight, as Nattawut in particular tends to bring the excitement, but it's definitely a shame to have Kem out.
The other big fight on the card sees Tiffany Van Soest take on Bernise Alldis. Van Soest is one of Lion Fight's featured fighters, and is an impressive 8-1 in the organization. She's talked about dipping her toes in the waters of MMA, which would be very interesting to see. Opponent Alldis comes out of the UK, where she has earned a lot of experience. She's also trained in Thailand, and brings solid skills to what should be a good fight.
One other fight to watch for on the undercard sees Jason Andrada take on Anthony Castrejon - that one should be a cracker. Get the full fight card below.
