It might look a bit unusual when two guys with the same last name are fighting for a title, but this is one you'll probably want to tune in for. World Series of Fighting bantamweight champion Marlon Moraes will defend his title against Sheymon Moraes in the co-main event of WSOF 22 on August 1st. Sherdog confirmed the news.
Marlon Moraes (14-4-1, 7-0 WSOF) picked up the title with a decision win over Josh Rettinghouse in March 2014 and has defended it twice since then. He is the only BW champ in the promotion's history.
Sheymon Moraes (7-0, 1-0 WSOF) scored a decision win over Gabriel Solorio in his promotional debut in December. He was profiled on Bloody Elbow back in early 2014 as a prospect, and has only gotten better since then.
WSOF 22 will be headlined by a welterweight title fight between Rousimar Palhares and Jake Shields. The card will air on the same day as UFC 190, which features Ronda Rousey vs. Bethe Correia in the main event.
