As expected, the gate for the "Fight of the Century" was astronomical. May 2nd's Floyd Mayweather vs. Manny Pacquiao fight in the MGM drew an incredible number topping $72 million. That well over tripled the old record. Dan Rafael tweeted about the gate just a little while ago:

According to the Nevada State Athletic Commission's page, the old record was $20,003,150 for Floyd's bout against Canelo Alvarez in 2013. Floyd now holds the top three spots and five of the top six. Pacquiao's bout with Oscar De La Hoya in 2008 is now number seven on the list.

The pay-per-view buy record has also been shattered by the fight, with the official number coming in at 4.4 million buys.

Mayweather won the bout by unanimous decision, and has stated that he will fight again in September. Pacquiao has undergone shoulder surgery and will be out of action for a while.
