Canelo vs. Kirkland KO and full fight video highlights

See the highlights and three knockdowns of last night's big performance by Canelo Alvarez, who starched James Kirkland in just 3 rounds in Houston, Texas.

The expectation coming into last night's big fight between Saul Alvarez and James Kirkland was that ringside judges would not be necessary, because this one was guaranteed to end in a KO. Predictably, it ended in a KO and it was one of the best ones of 2015. Mexican sensation Canelo Alvarez (45-1-1, 32 KOs) tore up Kirkland (32-2, 28 KOs) in just 3 rounds in the main event of HBO's World Championship Boxing from Minute Maid Park in Houston, Texas.

This non-title fight at super welterweight (154 lbs) was all action from the start, but Canelo's superior boxing and precision punching was way too much for a game Kirkland to handle. Alvarez dropped him with a short right hand in the first round, a right uppercut in the third round, then sealed the deal with a whopper of a right hand that turned off Kirkland's brain like a light switch.
