Late last night, we learned that UFC lightweight contender Khabib Nurmagomedov was forced out of his highly anticipated UFC 187 contest with Donald Cerrone due to an undisclosed injury. It didn't take long after the news broke for former lightweight champion Anthony Pettis to have a go at Nurmagomedov, who had previously spent months trash talking him prior to his title loss to Rafael dos Anjos.
@TeamKhabib karma is a bitch hope that disability pays well!!!

Here's the screenshot of the same tweet in case it gets deleted.
After correctly picking dos Anjos to "smash" Pettis in March, Nurmagomedov has stated in the past that Pettis was "never a true champion" and that he could finally "go back to the prelims". Pettis called Nurmagomedov "annoying" and an "amateur striker" in January after Khabib claimed that "Showtime" was scared to fight him.
While Nurmagomedov is shelved for an undetermined period of time, Pettis is set to make his Octagon return in late July against Myles Jury in the co-main event of UFC on Fox 16.
