Believe it or not, it's been six years since Manny Pacquiao recorded a stoppage win. Granted, the corners of Chris Algieri and Antonio Margarito probably (no, definitely) should've protected their fighters far better than they actually did and just called those respective blowouts off, but this is a true statistic nevertheless.
On November 14th, 2009, Pacquiao faced the hard-hitting Puerto Rican Miguel Cotto at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas for the WBO Welterweight Title (147 lbs). Cotto won the belt by beating Joshua Clottey, while Pacquiao came off a sensational one-punch KO of Ricky Hatton a few months prior. Miguel's sole defeat at the time of the fight was TKO vs. Antonio Margarito, whose win and career was put into question after he was caught with plaster in his handwraps in his very next outing (a TKO loss) against Shane Mosley. There was plenty of anticipation in the air and excitement was seemingly guaranteed.
Pacquiao knocked Cotto down once in the 3rd, then again in the 4th, and turned a close fight into a blowout in the later rounds before finishing Cotto with a standing TKO in the final round. It was a highly entertaining contest and one of Pacquiao's finest performances in the ring.
