Zuffa brass flew to Albuquerque, New Mexico today for an urgent meeting with the UFC's troubled Light Heavyweight champ. According to an Ariel Helwani report on MMA Fighting, CEO Lorenzo Fertitta, President Dana White and COO Lawrence Epstein met with Jones and his lawyers today in the wake of news that New Mexico authorities will not bar Jones from travel while he is awaiting trial on felony charges.
MMA Fighting's Marc Raimondi reported that "the door has been left open for him to fight next month -- at least legally."
While Jones had initially been ordered not to leave the county by court authorities. However, Camille Cordova, a spokesperson for the New Mexico court, told MMA Fighting that the judge lifted that order after being asked by Jones' attorney Vincent Ward.
Now that no legal bars prevent Jones facing Anthony Johnson at UFC 187. The UFC and the Nevada Athletic Commission have some decisions to make.
