Jon Jones handed himself into a local police station after a felony arrest warrant was issued for his hit-and-run car crash incident which injured a 20-year-old pregnant woman. As the light-heavyweight champ departed from the police station after his $2,500 bail, he can be seen bombarded with pressing questions from the media, to which Jon deflected by covering his face.
Fresh video footage showcasing Jones rushing to a car following his exit from police custody has been uploaded by a New Mexico broadcasting station. KOAT presented the footage on their YouTube channel which can be seen above.
Jon Jones' attorney Vincent Ward had the following to say on the champ's arrest:
"He wants to get down to training for this big fight that he has. I know obviously he wouldn't want to be dealing with this right now, but Jon is a great guy - I know that he's taking all of this very seriously," Ward said to KOAT.
The 205 lb. kingpin's clash with Anthony Johnson at UFC 187 could be in serious jeopardy following his run in with the law, but Jones seems optimistic about his title defense on May 23 - at least according to his lawyer.
The video concludes with interviews from local Albuquerque fight-fans examining Jon's actions. The UFC have yet to comment on any kind of disciplinary measures they may enforce on the champ, as they await more facts to emerge from the incident.
