UFC Light Heavyweight champ is now looking at felony charges in a Saturday morning hit and run accident according to tweets from MMA Fighting's Ariel Helwani and ESPN's Brett Okamoto. The Albuquerque police say that because the victim suffered a broken arm in the collision they are now preparing a felony warrant for Leaving the Scene of an Accident.

The police report indicated that the driver ran a red light and collided with the woman's car on the driver's side. He then fled the scene on foot, leaving behind an injured victim and a rental car containing a marijuana pipe and paperwork indicating the car was rented to Jon Jones. Jones was also ID'd by an off duty policemen on the scene.

Here are the tweets from Helwani:

Jones is scheduled to defend his UFC title against Anthony Johnson at UFC 187 on May 23 in Las Vegas.

Jones failed a drug test for cocaine on December 4, 2014 but was not suspended due to the test being administered out of competition (ie not on fight day) when cocaine is not banned for out of competition use by WADA.

In 2012 Jones pled guilty to DWIafter driving his Bentley into a telephone pole in upstate New York.
