Will Al Iaquinta tell the San Diego fans to "stay classy"? We'll have to wait and see after his UFC Fight Night: Mir vs. Duffee fight against fellow ranked lightweight Bobby Green. The booking was confirmed by UFC officials over the weekend.
Iaquinta (12-3-1) has won 4 straight fights, including a controversial split decision over Jorge Masvidal earlier this month in Virginia. The crowd booed the decision and Iaquinta, which the Long Islander took offense to, shouting "you better not f**king boo me! I fought my ass off! F**k you!" Aside from that, he's been on an impressive run up the ranks, including stoppages over Rodrigo Damm, Ross Pearson, and Joe Lauzon.
Green (23-6) had his own 4-0 run in the UFC and an overall 9 fight winning streak, but it came to an end last November vs. Edson Barboza. He was scheduled to face Masvidal on that April card before he pulled out with a nasty torn quad injury. Green is #11 in the official lightweight rankings, while Iaquinta is #13.
UFC Fight Night: Mir vs. Duffee airs live on Fox Sports 1. Also announced for this card is a lightweight bout between Kevin Lee and James Moontasri.
