A lightweight bout with high potential for fireworks (not literally, that would be scary) has been added to UFC on FOX 16. PRIDE legend Takanori Gomi will take on Joe Lauzon on July 25th in Chicago, as confirmed on America's Pregame on Fox Sports 1 on Thursday.

Lauzon (24-10) is coming off a 2nd round TKO stoppage defeat to Al Iaquinta at UFC 183, which snapped his two-fight winning streak. The Massachusetts native has been with the UFC since 2007 and has managed to pick up at least 1 post-fight bonus in 12 of his 18 bouts inside the Octagon. His penchant for finishes is well known, as he's only gone the distance once in 24 career victories.

Gomi (35-10, 1 NC) was placed in the co-main event of UFC Japan last September against rising prospect Myles Jury, but "The Fireball Kid" was finished with strikes in under 2 minutes. It was the first time in his career that he'd ever been KO'd or TKO'd. The former PRIDE lightweight champion's last win was a FOTN performance against Isaac Vallie-Flagg at UFC 172.

The UFC on FOX 16 main event is a bantamweight championship rematch between T.J. Dillashaw and Renan Barao.
