Jacare Souza wants Vitor Belfort to win so they can fight for title in Brazil

Ronaldo Jacare will root for fellow countryman Vitor Belfort at UFC 187 and hopes they can fight for the belt in their homeland. He also believes he deserves the shot more than Luke Rockhold.

It took Ronaldo Souza less than the first time around to submit Chris Camozzi at UFC on Fox 15. With such an impressive win, Jacare now awaits alongside Luke Rockhold for the winner of Chis Weidman and Vitor Belfort to emerge at UFC 187. Souza, for one, wants The Phenom to come back with the belt, so they can fight for it in Brazil.

"I believe it'll be a hard fight for Vitor Belfort. Chris Weidman is young, very strong and very big," he told Combate. "Belfort always had trouble fighting wrestlers, but I'm rooting for him, I believe he'll surprise us and bring this title to Brazil. If he does, it'll be me and him fighting for it in Brazil. The best part about it is that the belt will stay in Brazil and with me. I won't disappoint my fans, I fight for them, I will be the champion".

Although Jacare is a very firm believer of him getting the next title shot, many pundits are making case for Rockhold after he submitted Lyoto Machida in a masterful performance.  But Jacare claims he has done more than Rockhold to secure his chance.

"I'm sure I'll be next. Luke has already lost in the UFC. I have five straight wins against tough guys. Lyoto had his chance and lost to Rockhold. When Rockhold fought me, he lost as well, but the judges fought for him.  Surely I deserve it more than anyone else, I have a five-fight win streak, was the champion at another promotion without a doubt, I will be next.  I didn't come here to lose. I'm here to win".

His coach at X-Gym, Josuel Distak, took it a step further, saying that if Souza doesn't get the next shot, the UFC's ranking system is meaningless.

"Jacare has five strong wins in the Octagon.  He earned the right to fight for the title, he's number one", he told Portal do Vale Tudo. "If they take that away from him, then the rankings have no value.  We will wait for Weidman and Belfort and we'll be ready, because sooner or later,  the belt will be in Jacare's hands".
