Dana White is the man with a plan. And that plan involves where he wants to take his possible new featherweight champion. Outspoken Irishman Conor McGregor will face off with champion Jose Aldo at UFC 189 and if Conor wins, Dana wants his first title defense to be in a stadium in Dublin.
He spoke to Setanta Sports about it:
"I'm Irish, Lorenzo is Italian. Lorenzo is Irish now, Lorenzo has turned the corner, he's Irish! We want to do Croke Park, we really do. If this kid wins that title, we want his first defense to be in Croke Park. Irish MMA is awesome, it's incredible, the way that you guys have burst onto the global scene. I can't wait to come back here and put on another event at the O2 or Croke Park, either one."
McGregor (17-2, 5-0 UFC) is coming off a second-round TKO win over Dennis Siver. Aldo (25-1, 7-0 UFC) last defended his title in a thrilling win over Chad Mendes at UFC 179.
Their headlining UFC 189 bout goes down on July 11th in Las Vegas.
