Max Holloway gets better and better every fight, and he chose a very big stage to put on his best fight yet. Holloway faced off with Cub Swanson on the main card of UFC on Fox 15 and basically dominated the entire fight, shutting down Swanson's vaunted striking game and hurting him multiple times in the process. After easily winning the first two rounds, he went for it in the third and forced Swanson to submit to a guillotine with just over a minute left in the bout.
Holloway took it Swanson on the feet early, mixing up his offense with all sorts of kicks and punches from different angles. He was also moving a lot, which was clearly frustrating Swanson. Cub had his moments but was never able to get anything going.
The second round looked pretty much the same, with Holloway actually dancing a bit and showboating. Swanson's left eye was swollen and he was looking for the one-shot KO with very little success.
The third round saw Holloway mixing up more kicks and body work, and hurting Cub halfway through the round. He almost secured an arm-triangle on the ground but Swanson got away. Holloway stayed on him though, hurting him against and getting him a nasty guillotine. Swanson tried to deal with the pain but it was too much. He tapped out at the 3:58 mark of the final round.
Holloway (13-3) has won six bouts in a row and at the young age of 23, he's going to be a force in the featherweight division for years to come.
