Ben Henderson vs. Michael Johnson targeted for TUF 21 Finale main event in Miami

UFC officials are planning a Ben Henderson vs. Michael Johnson main event for July 12th in Miami, Florida.

It looks like Ben Henderson's next fight will be at lightweight, and it is lined up to be another main event. A match-up between Henderson and Michael Johnson is slated for the TUF 21: ATT vs. Blackzilians Finale in Miami on July 12th, one day after UFC 189: Aldo vs. McGregor. An initial report from Bleacher Report's Duane Finley was followed up with another one from Ariel Helwani and Guilherme Cruz of MMA Fighting stating that the UFC hasn't made it official but is close to making it a done deal.

Henderson (22-5) previously headlined UFC Broomfield in February by jumping up to welterweight on two weeks notice to face Brandon Thatch in the night's main event. He pulled off a thrilling 4th round submission win having trailed on the scorecards after the first 3 rounds. The win ended the first losing streak of his career, which included a shock KO loss to Rafael dos Anjos and then a close decision loss to Donald Cerrone in January.

Johnson (16-8) has won 4 straight, including a decision win in Brazil against Edson Barboza in February. The Blackzilians product called out Henderson in the post-fight interview, and not only is he set to get his wish, "The Menace" will partake in his first ever five-round fight if this fight is formally announced. Johnson is the #6 ranked lightweight, and it is quite conceivable to think that a win over Bendo would be enough to earn him a title shot.

This upcoming season of The Ultimate Fighter is a camp vs. camp edition, with American Top Team welterweights facing the Blackzilians, and the winning camp will receive $500,000. Bloody Elbow will provide updates on this card and Bendo vs. Johnson throughout the week.
