While Joanna Jedrzejczyk is quite satisfied atop the starwweight mountain, she believes she may be destined to move up to another weight class if the opportunity presents itself.
Present at the UFC's debut show in Poland, which took place in Krakow, Jedrzejczyk witnessed her expected title challenger lose in 90 seconds to relative unknown Maryna Moroz. While she may have expected Joanne Calderwood as her next challenger, she was pleased to have a front row seat when the latest title challenger announced herself in the division.
"I'm happy that the UFC put some strawweight fights on [Saturday's] card," Jedrzejczyk told Fox Sports. "I'm happy because I can watch my future opponents. "So now I must run away with my belt."
With victories over Carla Esparza and Claudia Gadelha so far in her UFC stint, Joanna believes that the only struggle she had so far was against her Brazilian foe, whom she defeated in an extremely close split decision.
"I think that Claudia, she's a better fighter than Esparza," Jedrzejczyk claimed. "When I was in America, everyone was talking about Carla's wrestling, so I had it in my mind. But my wrestling is better than hers. You could see it in the fight."
While her division continues to swell and develop new potential, Jedrzejczyk is quite open to the idea of moving up to flyweight, if the division is brought over to the UFC. She even mentioned bantamweight as a potential stop for the Polish champion during her UFC tenure.
"I'm going to stay at 115," Jedrzejczyk said. "In the future, if they're going to make a new division for 125, then I'm going to move and I'm going to be champion again. And then I will think about 135, but we will see."
