It appears that former UFC interim welterweight champion Carlos Condit will be making his long-awaited return to the cage in late May. And if the reports are true, he'll be facing off with a former perennial top-five fighter who is coming off a knockout win. That man would be Thiago Alves.
The report comes from Steven Marrocco of MMA Junkie.
Condit (29-8, 6-4 UFC) hasn't competed since he badly injured his knee in a bout with Tyron Woodley a year ago. Despite the long layoff, he is still ranked in the number four contender spot in the official UFC rankings.
Alves (21-9, 13-6 UFC) has picked up two straight wins since his return from a two-year layoff. The most recent victory was a second-round TKO of Jordan Mein in January. He currently ranked at number 13 in the rankings.
No official fights have been announced for UFC Fight Night 67 as of yet, which doesn't even have a confirmed location yet. You'd have to think that this bout would be the main event of the show though.
