Another fight is now official for the UFC's spectacular-looking Memorial Day weekend show in Las Vegas, Nevada. An official press release confirms that welterweight Dong Hyun Kim will battle Josh Burkman at UFC 187 on May 23rd at the MGM Grand. The bout is slated to open up the pay-per-view broadcast.

Kim (19-3-1, 1 NC) hasn't fought since an August 2014 1st round TKO loss to Tyron Woodley in Macau. "Stun Gun" had previously rattled off four consecutive victories, culminating in a sensational spinning elbow KO of John Hathaway last March. Believe it or not, Kim hasn't fought in the United States since his rib injury TKO loss to Demian Maia in Las Vegas back in July 2012.

Burkman (27-10, 1 NC) lost a unanimous decision to Hector Lombard in his first UFC fight since 2008. However, a failed drug test from Lombard resulted in the loss being overturned to a no contest by the NAC. "The People's Warrior" went 4-1 in World Series of Fighting, most memorably knocking Jon Fitch down and choking him unconscious within 45 seconds. He was brought back to the UFC after KOing Tyler Stinson in WSOF and Joe Silva wasted no time throwing him to the wolves. Even now, Kim is ranked in the top 10 in one of the deepest divisions in the sport.

UFC 187 is headlined by a light heavyweight title fight between Jon Jones and Anthony Johnson, with a co-main event feature of Chris Weidman and Vitor Belfort for Weidman's middleweight belt. There's also a lightweight top contender bout between Donald Cerrone and Khabib Nurmagomedov, as well as a host of other fights that are immediately relevant to the top 10 of their respective divisions.
