This weekend was one of the most exciting in recent memory for mixed martial arts fans. Although there was no UFC or big name fighters appearing, we were treated to two of the most exciting events in recent history, as well as two candidates for fight of the year. Bellator 135 kicked off the weekend's fight action with a memorable card that featured an epic battle between LC Davis and Hideo Tokoro, that drew much critical acclaim. Few could believe that the excitement provided by Davis and Tokoro would be exceeded the following night at World Series of Fighting 19.
Justin Gaethje has made a name for himself as one of the most exciting, up-and-coming fighters in America. Gaethje is a fighter from the Michael Chandler school of thought: happy to take a punch as long as he can return one. And in Luis Palomino, he had a willing pugilistic partner. For 3 straight rounds, both Gaethje and Palomino engaged in an often reckless war, thrilling all that watched it live and now thankfully, the full fight is online for everyone to enjoy.
Time will tell if this fight will end up winning the fight of the year award but one thing's for certain last night gave Gaethje and Palomino a massive boost in popularity.
