The injury bug has struck again. Just two weeks away from a scheduled fight with Aisling Daly on UFC Fight Night 64 in Poland on April 11th, Brazilian strawweight Claudia Gadelha has been sidelined with a back injury, according to a report by Combate.
Gadelha herself broke out the news on her Instagram account, though the post has been erased since.
"Guys, I sadly have to announce my leave from the April 11 card in Poland. I had a muscle contraction on my back during wrestling practice and it hurts too much to move my neck and my arms. I apologize to my fans who have been looking forward to this fight. I hope to fight Aisling Daly soon to honor Brazil against Ireland since she has been talking a lot of crap like partner her Conor McGregor. Soon I will be back stronger."
Gadelha is 1-1 so far in the UFC, with a unanimous decision win against Tina Lahdemaki and a split decision loss to current strawweight champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk.
It's not yet been determined if the UFC will find Daly a replacement or if the Irish fighter will be pulled from the card altogether.
