Brock Lesnar shuts door on MMA return, re-signs with WWE

Former UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar says that he has elected not to return to the sport of MMA, and has re-signed with the WWE.

UFC fans aren't going to like this bit of news - Brock Lesnar has shut the door on a return to MMA. The former UFC heavyweight champion has flirted with the idea of an MMA return after spending a few years as a pro wrestler in the WWE, where he is their current champion and will be headlining WrestleMania this weekend. His contract is about to expire, but he told Michelle Beadle on ESPN's SportCenter that he has chosen to re-sign with that company:

It was a very hard decision to make. I've been training to get back into the Octagon. I felt physically great, but something lacked mentally and that's not good. I talked to Dana, I talked to Lorenzo, Vince, my wife, my friends. I had many sleepless nights and at the end of the day, I was born to be an entertainer and I have fun doing it."

"I'm officially closing the door on the sport of MMA. I signed last night with the WWE. We came to a conclusion last night. The offer on the table I couldn't refuse. I think it's fair to the fans, and I want to be fair to the fans to know that on Sunday, I'm going to hold that damn belt. It was public knowledge and it was out there as to, What is Brock going to do?"

"I'm an older caveman now and I make wiser caveman decisions. My legacy in the Octagon is over."

So there it is. One of the biggest draws in UFC history will never step foot in the octagon again.
