If you are a fight fan looking for some quality cobalt sports violence this weekend, Lion Fight has you covered.
Lion Fight 21 airs this Friday, March 27 at 10:00 p.m. ET live on AXS TV. Lion Fight 21 features a night of full rules Muay Thai culminating in a superb and anticipated rematch. A reminder for those new to the company: Lion Fight is traditional Muay Thai. Rule changes from Glory include 5 round fights instead of 3, plus a wider range of allowed techniques including elbows, knees from the clinch, and throws.
The main event at Lion Fight 21 is a good one that holds intrigue for hardcore kickboxing fans as Tetsuya Yamato takes on Kevin Ross for the 2nd time. Yamato made a big name for himself in 2010, winning the K-1 63kg GP at that time. He's had his ups and downs, but is currently the uncrowned lineal king at 63kg, having defeated the impressive Masaaki Noiri last year. Ross is one of Lion Fight's biggest stars and in many ways the poster figure for US Muay Thai. He's currently on a 3 fight win streak undefeated since a 2013 loss to... Tetsuya Yamato. That fight back at Lion Fight 11 was an excellent match, with Yamato taking a close split decision. The rematch is one to watch.
Also on the card is Tiffany Van Soest. If Ross is the face of US Muay Thai, then Van Soest is the face of Women's US Muay Thai. She's had great success in Lion Fight, though is coming in off a loss in November. She takes on Chajmaa Bellakhal here - a solid fighter out of Morocco who will absolutely push Van Soest. Also on the card is one of the company's most entertaining fighters - the great Malaipet. He shows his stuff against Ben Yelle. Get the full fight card below.
