UFC president Dana White went through the list of upcoming events in Brazil after the completion of a wild UFC 189 press conference featuring Jose Aldo and Conor McGregor. Last on the list was UFC 190, which is set for August 1st in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil at the HSBC Arena. As reported yesterday and now confirmed by Dana White today, women's bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey will fight Bethe Correia in the main event. Both women were introduced on stage and answered questions from the media.
Rousey (11-0) was the talk of the sports world after she armbarred the previously unbeaten Cat Zingano in just 14 seconds. Her last 3 title defenses -- Zingano, Alexis Davis, and Sara McMann -- have ended in a combined 96 seconds, leading to much debate over whether or not she should be fighting male bantamweights.
Correia (9-0) is 3-0 in the UFC, having finished Shayna Baszler at UFC 177 in her last appearance. The interest in the Brazilian's title shot came after beating Baszler and Jessamyn Duke, part of Rousey's "Four Horsewomen" gang. It's realistically the driving storyline behind this fight, and Rousey is obviously up for it, as she said "F**k with my family, and you're f**ked."
Additionally, Mauricio Rua and Antonio Rogerio Nogueira will also fight each other on the card, 10 years after their unforgettable PRIDE bout in Japan.
