Johny Hendricks explains Mike Dolce split: Time for me to man up and do it on my own

Former UFC welterweight champion Johny Hendricks explains why Mike Dolce has not been a part of his most recent training camp ahead of UFC 185.

Much has been said about Johny Hendrick's diet ahead of his first non-title fight since March 2013. The former champion has struggled to maintain a dietary regimen in the past and it seemingly cost him his championship title.

While it appears the Texas native has made the necessary adjustments since his loss to Robbie Lawler at UFC 181, many were surprised to find out that he was not working with nutrition guru Mike Dolce ahead of this fight.

"Behind the scenes, my wife does everything," Hendricks told "On Sundays we do the meal prepping. We're not with Dolce on this one. It's just a mutual thing."

Dolce may have provided the required services and helped Hendricks make weight, but ‘Big Rigg' believes he ust achieve this feat on his own to truly overcome his dietary demons.

"I wanted to do it on my own. I learned a lot of stuff from Dolce and I'm using a lot of his stuff that I've learned, the way I prep my food and all that kind of stuff. But everybody's talking about my weight and it's time for me to man up and do it on my own, see what I can do.

"I love Mike Dolce, I have no bad feelings."
