British fighter finally earns his first victory in 22 pro bouts

Victory at last! One of MMA's longest losing streaks got broken last weekend in England, when British welterweight Andy Cona scored his first win in 22 pro fights.

"The Immortal" might just be the happiest fighter on the planet right now. And no, I am not talking about UFC welterweight Matt Brown. This post is about 1-21 welterweight Andy Cona from the United Kingdom, who, after four years and 22 professional fights, finally scored his first victory at Machine MMA 11 in England last weekend.

And what a victory it was.

Cona finished pro MMA debutant Darren Wilkinson via technical knockout in just under 20 seconds. You can watch the video above.

The victory can only be described as a big relief to Cona and the people close to him. Not only did he lose his first 21 fights in a row (only 20 of them are listed on Sherdog), he got stopped in the first round in every one of them - 11 times via (T)KO.

"I will lose a thousand fights and then win one, but I am not quitting," Cona once said in an interview in 2012.

Well, Andy, your big day has finally come.
