Ronda Rousey will shoot movie before taking next UFC bout

New, comments

UFC president Dana White has freed Ronda Rousey to shoot a movie before returning to the Octagon sometime later this year.

Looks like it may be a good thing that there are no really compelling challengers on the horizon for UFC women's bantamweight champ Ronda Rousey because she's got other plans for a bit.

Rousey smoked Cat Zingano, a fighter many expected to be her stiffest test yet, in a mere 14 seconds last night at UFC 184 in Los Angeles' Staples Center. And since the UFC didn't manage to sign former Strikeforce champ Gina Carano for a super-fight and Cris Cyborg has yet to make 135 pounds there really isn't a huge money fight for the 28-year-old Rousey right now.

But that's all right.

Rousey and UFC president Dana White announced last night at the UFC 184 post-fight press conference that she'll be taking a break from fighting in the Octagon for a bit to shoot a movie in Hollywood. Rousey is a veteran of three major productions The Expendables 3, Fast and Furious 7, and Entourage.

"We had a deal that she was going to go do a movie after this fight. So when she's done with her movie, we will talk," said White.

"I don't know what I'm supposed to say about it yet. Yes, I'm going to make a movie. But I'm not going to say anything about it," Rousey followed up.
