Derrick Lewis and Tim Means didn't need the full fifteen minutes to get the job done in their UFC 184 bouts. Both men picked up TKO victories, and made it look pretty easy in the process. Here's how the two bouts went down.
Derrick Lewis defeated Ruan Potts by TKO (strikes) at 3:18 of round two
Potts was actually in the fight in the first round, getting Lewis wrapped up in a leg lock and knee bar. Lewis didn't exactly use the best technique to escape, but he managed to get out of trouble nonetheless. He landed some hard shots in the first that seemed to hurt Potts, but he put him into real trouble in the second. Potts was wincing in pain as Lewis leisurely stayed on top of him, dropping the occasional punch. He finally moved to mount, then turned up the pressure just enough to get a stoppage.
Tim Means defeated Dhiego Lima by TKO (strikes) at 2:17 of round one
This was all Dirty Bird. Means hurt Lima with a punch about a minute in, but didn't charge in looking for a finish. He methodically took apart the TUF alum with hard elbows and punches, while staying out of Lima's range. Means staggered Lima at least four times before finally landing a shot that put him on the mat. A few more punches and the fight was waved off.
