UFC Fight Night: Porto Alegre bonuses – Mir pockets $50,000 for first win in over three years

The upset-filled Fight Night event on Sunday led to four different performance bonuses being awarded.

Although the UFC Fight Night 61 event was far from the promotion's best fight card in recent memory, it ended up producing a record breaking amount of upset victories, as well as a slew of finishes that warranted various post-fight bonuses.

For the first time since 2011, former heavyweight champion Frank Mir is back in the winner's column. Mir snapped a four-fight losing streak when he TKO'd Bigfoot in the opening round of their main event contest, thus extending his UFC lifeline just a little while longer.

BC Native Matt Dwyer earned an incredible KO finish on the preliminary portion of the card - a superman punch KO that sent Macario tumbling face-first into the canvas. After suffering a double head kick KO loss to Albert Tumenov in his last octagon outing, it was remarkable to see Dwyer pull of the enthralling finish and pull off the upset.

Another surprising upset on Sunday came during the preliminary portion of the fight card, where Marion Reneau locked in a triangle choke to submit Jessica Andrade and move to 2-0 under the UFC banner.

‘Smilin' Sam Alvey earned a first round knockout victory over Cezar Mutante, which was even more surprising when one realizes that the American landed a grand total of four strikes throughout the entire fight.

Performance bonuses: Frank Mir, Matt Dwyer, Sam Alvey, Marion Reneau
