Video: Fighter suffers seizure following KO loss at Russian MMA event

Saturday’s OPLOT event in Russia saw a fighter seize up following a KO loss. Watch the highly graphic video here.

While one can expect to see some unorthodox incidents at regional MMA events, particularly in countries where no regulatory body exists to watch over the sport, few anticipated the harrowing scene that would unfold at the OPLOTqualifying tournament on Saturday afternoon.

During the event, a fighter was hit with a spinning back kick to the head that separated him from his consciousness.  However, instead of the regular bodily reaction, this fighter's body seized up violently for several minutes while blood poured out of his mouth.

The incident did not end there. The fighter was then moved to the corner like a sack of potatoes, and was fanned with a towel until his body stopped shaking. The fighter's team huddled around him and attempted to revive him with water, which did nothing. So they took him outside he cage and placed him on the ground in the gym.

The entire sequence of events lasted well over six minutes and can be viewed in its entirety above. (Begins at 56:20.)

The founder of Team Oplot is Oleksiy Oliynyk, who is currently 2-0 in the UFC's heavyweight division. When contacted by fans on social media, Oliynyk revealed that the fighter was "normal" following the knockout loss.

It should be noted that while OPLOT usually titles their events and has fight cards available online, there was no information available for this event, or the fighter that was viciously knocked out.
